Despite All Elite Wrestling stars Chris Jericho and Jon Moxley wrestling in Japan for New Japan Pro Wrestling, it is not believed that NJPW and AEW have any sort of working relationship.
Despite this, NJPW CEO Herald Meij seemingly didn’t rule out working with the new promotion in the future.
Speaking to FOX Sports Australia, Meji had the following to say about NJPW working with various other promotions, including AEW:
“We’re very open to working with anyone, we don’t exclude anyone. But it does take time to create that trust between companies. And right now AEW is still in the exploratory phase; they’re trying to establish themselves as a brand, what is that brand? They’re about one year in, and we’re starting to see what their brand is all about. Then we’ll have to see if that brand fits our brand of course.”
Just under two months ago now, NJPW announced the launch of NJPW US, an American-based NJPW promotion.
With AEW running shows in the US, it is possible that NJPW could contact them to work together on American shows. Stay tuned to WrestleTalk.com for the latest.
