The current women’s evolution in WWE is certainly monumental, but the outbreak of talent in the world of women’s professional wrestling is far from exclusive to Vince McMahon’s company. Many other promotions out there claim that WWE is actually a little late to the party, with those from TNA/Impact proclaiming it was their Knockouts division that truly spearheaded the change in WWE’s philosophy regarding women.
Formerly referred to as ‘divas,’ the ladies would be lucky to get even just one match on a show or pay-per-view, especially one that lasted longer than a couple of minutes and wasn’t a bra and panties match. WWE has finally turned a corner with its historic WWE Evolution pay-per-view coming up on October 28, the first ever all-female card for a major event in the company’s history.
While there will be many wrestlers from both past and present to appear and compete at this event, it will definitely not include all the talent the world has to offer. So here’s a list of the top 10 female wrestlers today who are not in WWE or NXT.
Disclaimer: With the current Mae Young Classic still ongoing on the WWE Network and WWE having signed many of the performers from last year’s tournament both during and immediately following the event, we are not going to consider any of the wrestlers who are participating this time around such as Mercedes Martinez, Mia Yim and Meiko Satomura. Hopefully WWE recognizes what talent it has there right now, and signs them up to contracts so we can see them on Raw and SmackDown Live in the very near future.
