Matt Hardy is one of the most decorated wrestlers to ever step foot in the ring, holding multiple championships in the WWF/WWE as well as TNA/Impact and all over the world! After a 20+ year wrestling career, the older of the Hardyz has seemingly decided to retire from the sport at the age of 43. He released a video online stating that his match in Corpus Christi, Texas on Saturday was more than likely his last.
With 20+ years of performing, you are bound to have incredible moments. From championship victories to heel turns, moments only happen once, and Hardy has had many! From Team Extreme to V.1. to the leader of the Woken Warriors, here is a list of the top 10 moments of Matt Hardy’s career!
10. Winning the WWE Cruiserweight Championship
Back in his early singles run with WWE, the V.1. version of Matt scored a victory over then reigning champion Billy Kidman at No Way Out 2003 to be crowned the new Cruiserweight Champion.
His reign lasted just under four months, but was his first real achievement since breaking away from his brother Jeff as part of the Hardy Boyz.
9. Winning the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal
Though his return with brother Jeff one year earlier was incredible, Hardy winning the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 34 was also an amazing moment.
Hardy had not won any singles championships since his return, so winning the battle royal was definitely a needed victory, and his name will forever be added to the list of winners, even if it was with some assistance.
8. The heel turn that shocked the world
Matt Hardy had some amazing rivalries throughout his career, but one of the most shocking and heart stopping storylines of the PG era was when Matt turned on his younger brother Jeff at the Royal Rumble in 2009, smacking him with a chair and costing him the championship. This led to an amazing Extreme Rules match at Wrestlemania 25 between the two, which you need to go and watch right now if you haven’t seen it!
