10 Kazuchika Okada Matches You MUST Watch

7. Kazuchika Okada vs. Kenny Omega – Dominion 2017

When Kazuchika Okada defeated Kenny Omega at Wrestle Kingdom 11, talk of a rematch began immediately. Five months later, their rematch was finally set for Dominion, little did people know when they were in for.

Omega and Okada changed the game with their match at Wrestle Kingdom 11. The six-star match showed fans a level of performance that had gone unseen in decades. At Dominion, they topped themselves. You might ask yourself why this match places lower, well that’s is because I feel like the first is more Okada’s match. However, this is one of the greatest matches ever and needs to be watched.

Okada and Omega battled for an hour and told an incredible story as they neared the time limit. This was a work of art in pro wrestling.

6. Kazuchika Okada vs. Kota Ibushi – Wrestle Kingdom 14 Day One

The Double Gold Dash was the focus of Wrestle Kingdom 14 but when the shows were over this was the best match. Kazuchika Okada and Kota Ibushi had wrestled in the G1 Climax in 2019 and while it was great, it was clear that was the appetizer match. This was the main course, and it delivered.

Ibushi continues to show that when he loses control he loses focus. When he goes to his dark place he is then unable to keep himself focused on winning the match at hand. The story of this match became whether or not Okada could whether the storm. These are two of the best performers in the world and they put on one of the best matches in Tokyo Dome history.

5. Kazuchika Okada vs. Will Ospreay – G1 Climax 29 Day 7

It is not often you see the IWGP Heavyweight Champion take on the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion. Even less often is when it is this good. Well, really it has never been this good. This is one of the best matches in the history of the G1 Climax and think of the ground that covers.

This is what I like to call a totem pole match. Essentially where you have an established star and a rising star square off to test where they stand on the company totem pole. Lots can be accomplished in a story with a match like this as was illustrated here. Even will Will Ospreay proving he can hang with the best in the world, Okada fought to prove he is still the top dog in New Japan.

4. Kazuchika Okada vs. Kenny Omega – Dominion 2018

One year after their hour-draw at Dominion 2017, Kenny Omega challenged Kazuchika Okada once again. This time, special stipulations had to be put in place. In order to avoid another draw, this match had no time limit, and to make sure the score was settled, this was two out of three falls.

What resulted was the greatest wrestling match ever. Okada’s reign as IWGP Heavyweight Champion had broken all sorts of record. Now, he needed to see if he could defeat Omega one more time. Covering this match in only a few words is impossible but it remains the most important match in Omega’s career and one of the most important in Okada’s.
