10 Matt Riddle Matches We Want To See On The WWE Main Roster

Matt Riddle made his NXT debut at Takeover: Brooklyn IV in the patented NXT way – sitting in the crowd. Thereafter, he went on to be a big deal on the black and gold brand, having feuds with Kassius Ohno, Velveteen Dream and Killian Dain to name a few.

He also recently captured the NXT Tag Team Championship in a team with Pete Dunne. However, due to the travel bans around the world, Dunne couldn’t fight alongside his partner and Riddle started a storyline with Timothy Thatcher instead.

Thatcher cost Riddle the titles by walking out on him, leaving Imperium to pick up the scraps. This lead to a cage fight on the latest edition of NXT, which saw Riddle suffer his final loss on the brand.

Now the ‘Original Bro’ is getting elevated to the main roster, more specifically, SmackDown. Kurt Angle announced his debut which could hint at big things being in store for Riddle’s career.

Having Riddle on the blue brand will certainly freshen up the roster and offer new rivalries to start. Here are 10 Matt Riddle matches we want to see on the WWE main roster.

1. Goldberg

Let’s jump straight into the deep end…

There is no doubt that if you are more than the average wrestling fan you would have heard about the personal real-life feud between Matt Riddle and Bill Goldberg.

Riddle has been calling him out since his botch-filled match with The Undertaker at Super ShowDown last year, stating that Goldberg is not entertaining, is a bad-wrestler and is too old for the sport.

Goldberg has responded to interviews enquiring about Riddle stating he is “annoying and won’t go away”.

So, seeing as they are both technically on the same brand now, Matt Riddle could begin a rivalry with Goldberg as early as live attendance returning.

This is a match we want to see, mainly due to the real-life tension which would definitely play a factor in this kayfabe world.

2. Brock Lesnar

Riddle does seem to rile up the part-time talent backstage, as another personal rivalry is one with the ‘Beast Incarnate’ Brock Lesnar.

Riddle has been calling out the former WWE Champion for months asking for a match. It makes sense, after all, Riddle and Lesnar both share an MMA background. Riddle wants to show how legit he is. However, Lesnar also finds him very annoying, even going as far as to tell him a match between the two will never happen.

Lesnar may be speaking the truth and a match may never be on the cards. However, the bout does scream “Money!” and it is nice to dream that these two will clash inside the ring one day.

3. Sheamus

Sheamus is currently involved in a feud with Jeff Hardy, but on the latest edition of Smackdown, he mentioned Matt Riddle’s name in an interview before facing Daniel Bryan in the main event.

This could be foreshadowing his next feud with Matt Riddle. Sheamus hasn’t been an uncommon warrior for the upcoming talent to challenge before moving onto other matters. A match with Riddle would definitely be fun with a whole load of knee explosions to the face!

This is one that could definitely happen in the coming months.
