Once upon a time, there was a wrestler, sorry, I mean, sports entertainer, called CM Punk, and he had a very interesting story.
Unfortunately, I am an android and therefore unable to tell stories in any other method than lists, so here we are.
Following the news that Punk’s next career move will be as a commentator in MMA, we look back at the moments that made his career so fascinating.
Crazy times, am I right?
10. Cashing In MITB
In 2008, cashing in the Money in the Bank contract was a relatively new concept, as it had only been done three times before; twice by Edge, and once by Rob Van Dam.
So, when Edge was left down in the ring after a Batista assault, the sound of Punk’s music confused fans at first.
But out he came with referee Mike Chioda, a referee famous for being confused every time someone wants to cash-in. “What’s this briefcase for? Oh, you want to cash it in? Well, that is a novel idea!”
It was Punk’s first world title reign in the WWE, and arguably the most shocking, having only joined developmental a few years previously.
Having been a champion in ROH, it wasn’t a surprise that he was pushed, but the speed with which is happened will have come as a shock to many.
