10 Possible Opponents For Drew McIntyre At WrestleMania 37

7. John Cena

John Cena is tied with Ric Flair for the most combined WWE World Championship reigns in history. Currently sitting at 16 reigns, if Cena was to win the WWE Championship once more, he’d become the most decorated wrestler in WWE history.

If The Leader of the Cenation sets his sights on this goal, he’ll have to go through McIntyre. The Scotsman spent months feuding with Randy Orton, so it would be poetic to see McIntyre face possibly Orton’s greatest rival, John Cena.

While the champion and the WrestleMania 29 main-eventer have never went one-on-one, the two have been involved in numerous matches together, including a fatal 4-way in 2019. Neither Cena or McIntyre were victorious on this occasion, so the competitors still have a score to settle.

A win over a WWE Championship recordholder would solidify McIntyre’s star status. If Cena can make it to WrestleMania 37, facing the WWE Champion would be an excellent challenge for the 16-time champion.

6. Triple H

Triple H vs. Drew McIntyre makes a lot more sense than you’d initially think.

McIntyre’s WWE Championship reigns have been solidified with victories over competitors of a bygone era. Brock Lesnar, Big Show, Goldberg, and Randy Orton secured their legacies in the early 2000s.

While those men experienced career defining moments, nobody owned the Ruthless Aggression era like Triple H did. With WrestleMania title victories and faction warfare, The King of Kings quickly transitioned from a top competitor to an icon of WWE.

If McIntyre gets the opportunity to face The Game at WrestleMania, legacy would be on the line. A win for Triple H would also make history, with The King of Kings earning his 10th WWE Championship.

If Triple H was to defeat McIntyre for the title, that would be The Game’s 15th World Championship, one behind John Cena and Ric Flair’s record of 16 reigns.

Both competitors will likely be remembered fondly by WWE fans, but only one man can be known as the greatest of all time.

5. Braun Strowman

Recently, Braun Strowman returned on Smackdown. Hitting Sami Zayn and Cesaro with multiple Powerslams, Strowman confirmed that he’s still one of the strongest competitors in WWE.

The Monster Among Men was suspended for assaulting a WWE official, feeling insulted that he had to argue his case for a WWE Championship match. It would be interesting to see such a dominant athlete challenge McIntyre at WrestleMania 37.

With Universal, Tag Team and Intercontinental Championship reigns under his belt, Strowman is more than qualified to main-event WrestleMania.

The Monster Among Men also defeated the current WWE Champion in their last singles encounter, pinning McIntyre on Raw in 2019. I’m not sure if there is a bigger challenge on the WWE roster for the Scotsman than Strowman.

With The Monster returning on The Blue Brand, Strowman could have his sights set on dominating Smackdown. If he decided to return to Raw, McIntyre would have a worthy opponent for WWE’s biggest show of the year.

4. Brock Lesnar

In his longest absence since his 2012 WWE return, Lesnar hasn’t been seen in a WWE ring since WrestleMania 36. Defeated by McIntyre for the WWE Championship, Lesnar is yet to return to the ring after almost a year away.

The former UFC Champion could return soon to challenge The Chosen One to a high stakes rematch.

Ending The Undertaker’s legendary WrestleMania streak and decimating Roman Reigns, a lot of Lesnar’s most dominant moments took place on The Grandest Stage.

After losing to McIntyre in under 5 minutes, it would make sense for The Beast Incarnate to want to rectify his WrestleMania record.

Since his first WWE Championship win, McIntyre has been a dominant force on The Red Brand. At Royal Rumble, The Chosen One became the 4th man to pin Goldberg since his return to WWE in 2016.

Fittingly Lesnar was the first person to pin the WCW legend after his wrestling hiatus. If anybody should be “next” after the former Universal Champion, it should be the man that defeated him at WrestleMania 33, Brock Lesnar.
