10 Randy Orton Matches You Must See

7. Randy Orton vs. Edge – Vengeance 2004

Randy Orton and Edge have great chemistry together and have feuding many times over the years. Some of their best matches took place way back in 2004. Edge had just returned from his debilitating neck injury and Orton was the Intercontinental Champion. They were on a collision course at Vengeance.

This was a battle between two guys who were trying to break through to the next level. Not often would you see two mid-card guys given 26 minutes to steal the show on pay per view in those days, but that is what this match was. Edge managed to pull off the win but this was a star-making performance for both men.

6. Randy Orton vs. Christian – SummerSlam 2011

Randy Orton and Christian’s rivalry from 2011 was greatly overshadowed by CM Punk’s rivalry with John Cena. This is truly a shame because they had some of the best matches of both of their careers. One of their best was their No Holds Barred match from SummerSlam.

Christian walked into the match as World Heavyweight Champion and whatever respect the two had for each other at the beginning of their feud was now gone. Their grappling had turned into vicious weapons shots. While their prior match may have been better, the change in styles allowed this to also be a great match while being distinctly different.

5. Randy Orton vs. Edge – Raw (April 30, 2007)

Edge and Randy Orton were in very different places when they battled again in 2007. When they fought in 2004 they were both up-and-coming mid-carders. In 2007, they had both reached the main event scene. After spending the previous six months as part of Rated RKO, Edge and Orton had enough of each other.

The night after Backlash 2007, they had their match. This stands as one of the best Raw matches ever, as Edge left Orton in a bloody heap. This was a rare heel vs. heel match as both men tried to get pins putting their feet on the ropes. This is not a type of match you get to see very often and even less of the time is it done so well.

4. Randy Orton vs. Batista vs. Daniel Bryan – WrestleMania XXX

Most of the focus in the main event of WrestleMania XXX was placed on Daniel Bryan but that does not take away from what Randy Orton was able to do in this match. Orton and Batista worked together in this match to try and keep Bryan from winning, a strategy that would not prove fruitful.

Orton was his typical heelish self but he ramped it up with some very big moments. Perhaps the biggest being the Batista Bomb-RKO combo that put Bryan through the announce table.

After being involved in a dud at WrestleMania XXV, it was nice to see Orton be involved in a truly classic WrestleMania main event.
