10 Teams That Could Be Chris Jericho’s Mystery Partners Against The Elite

10 Teams That Could Be Chris Jericho’s Mystery Partners Against The Elite

On October 2, Chris Jericho will go up against Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks on the premiere episode of AEW on TNT.

Adding intrigue to the mix, Jericho has the choice of two mystery partners to join him.

The only other currently announced match is Cody Rhodes vs Sammy Guevara, leaving plenty of options as to who his partners could be.

So who could team up with Chris Jericho to take on The Elite? Let’s take a look at the current AEW roster and some names rumoured to join All Elite Wrestling to try to figure it out.

1) Angelico and Jack Evans

Angelico and Jack Evans have fought The Young Bucks before and Chris Jericho could convince them to fight The Elite one more time.

The Jericho of old is no stranger to the high flying style of Angelico and Evans. Although an unlikely union, there is no doubt they would make a great trio.

Possibility: 4/10

2) Best Friends

Chuck Taylor and Trent Baretta seem like a perfect fit to join Chris Jericho and face The Elite.

Jericho wouldn’t even need to find them, they’d be asking for the opportunity.

The problem is this makes so much sense it wouldn’t be a mystery. Fans may be expecting a bigger surprise name than the Best Friends.

Possibility: 7/10

3) Lucha Brothers

This is a power team to rival the Elite if I’ve ever seen one.

Kenny Omega’s biggest rival in AEW right now is Chris Jericho. The Young Bucks’ biggest rivals in AEW right now are the Lucha Brothers.

A six man tag team between these guys would be crazy fun to see on the premier episode of AEW.

Possibility: 8/10

4) Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus

This would be a really fun mismatch tag team. Chris Jericho manipulating Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus would be so interesting to see.

Giving this tag team an opportunity to prove themselves in a high profile match would be a bold move but I just don’t see it happening, unfortunately.

Possibility: 4/10

5) Private Party

Private Party I see as a mix between Best Friends and Jungle Boy/Luchasaurus in that they would be the ones asking Chris Jericho for the match.

Private Party could really benefit from a high profile match like this. It’s a good combination.

Possibility: 7/10

6) Jimmy Havoc and Joey Janela

Jimmy Havoc and Joey Janela would be a crazy team to unite with Chris Jericho.

Havoc as king of the goths would suit Jericho’s current gimmick. Janela is a just nuts!

It would be a crazy strong challenge but probably not happening.

Possibility: 2/10

7) Darby Allin and Dustin Rhodes

This team follows on from the face painting gimmick of Chris Jericho in New Japan.

Imagine a team of face painted Chris Jericho, Dustin Rhodes and Darby Allin. That would be a fun little short term faction.

With no obvious moves in that direction it’s a very slim possibility though.

Possibility: 1/10

8) Jon Moxley and PAC

Imagine if Chris Jericho creates what is essentially a WWE invasion faction, similar to the nWo in WCW: ex-WWE wrestlers joining together to take out The Elite in All Elite Wrestling.

That would attract an audience. The return/debut of PAC would also be a huge moment worthy of a mystery partner.

Possibility: 9/10

9) MJF and Shawn Spears

This would be a fun faction in AEW.

Imagine a new version of Evolution: Tully Blanchard as Ric Flair, Chris Jericho as HHH, Shawn Spears as Batista and MJF as Randy Orton. It could be so good.

The mystery partner angle hides the fact that this is now a faction in AEW. I think it could happen but it’s perhaps not the most likely of scenarios.

Possibility: 5/10

10) LAX

This is the rumour everyone’s talking about.

LAX’s first match in AEW against The Elite makes all the sense in the world and would be a huge moment for the premiere episode of the product.

The only doubt is if LAX are really going to AEW and not WWE. If the former, this would be a perfect way to debut them.

Possibility: 9/10
