10 Things NXT Needs To Do Better

10. Nurture Talent Instead Of Raiding The Independent Scene

Of the 14 people competing across the five separate matches at NXT Takeover: New York, only two (Velveteen Dream and Bianca Belair) can be considered as truly home-grown. This was improved upon at NXT Takeover: XXV, where six of the 16 people wrestling at the show were nurtured and created in the Performance Center rather than bought from the independent scene.

The immensely talented Velveteen Dream has proved that NXT does not need to go out and buy every single top independent star for it to be a success, and true talent can be created in Tampa, Florida.

The current NXT Champion Adam Cole is a three-time Ring of Honor World Champion, and whilst having a few proven names helps NXT generate some interest and legitimacy, their reliance on snapping up the best workers from the independent scene will mean that unproven NXT talent on par with the likes of Dream and Belair might not get the chance to shine.
