Prior to his rise to the main event scene, Triple H and The Rock feuded over the Intercontinental Championship. You wouldn’t think of these two as Ladder Match performers by any means, but they showed a different style of match fans had not seen before.
Neither man has ever been much of a flyer so instead, they brawled and used the ladder as a weapon. The emphasis was put on drama rather than stunts and it resulted in one of the biggest matches of SummerSlam 1998. It wasn’t long before both men would find themselves on top of the business and doing battle over a much more prestigious prize.
