With R-Truth ending Shinsuke Nakamura’s two-day reign in a confusing segment on SmackDown this past Tuesday, it is clear that WWE needs to save the United States championship before it becomes more meaningless than a Bray Wyatt promo.
Since John Cena’s reign, the title has been heavily featured on pay-per-view, but only on the pre-show, and that is not good enough for a title that has been held by the likes of Bret Hart, Randy Orton, Steve Austin, Eddie Guerrero and Edge.
The title and its champion are often missing from SmackDown for weeks at a time and when the title is on TV, the champion is often reduced to throw-away in-ring segments or meaningless backstage interviews.
For WWE, the solution is simple: follow these ten steps and the title will once again be taken seriously and have the prestige it deserves.
