10. Bruiser Brody
It is often said that WWE have never put Bruiser Brody in their Hall of Fame because he did not wrestle for the promotion. That’s a fairly good reason, I suppose, except for the fact that it’s a load of hot nonsense.
Brody did in fact compete for the then-WWWF in the late 70s. Not just in one-off appearances either, but as a regular fixture on the circuit. Brody wrestled over 150 matches for the group between 1976-1979 (and again in 1980), battling notable names like Gorilla Monsoon, Chief Jay Strongbow, Ivan Putski and WWWF Champion Bruno Sammartino.
In a curious piece of wrestling trivia, the legendary brawler also wrestled several matches under the WWWF umbrella in 1976 against Jose Gonzales, the man who would shockingly murder him 12 years later in their tragic dressing room altercation in Puerto Rico. The pair worked with each other regularly on the house show loop throughout the year.
