10 WWE Name Changes That Were Actually Good

Elias Samson becomes Elias

WWE’s favourite way to change up a ring name is to chop off a name, either a first name or a last name.

A lot of the time, it seems pointless and adds no real value, such as shortening Matt Riddle to Riddle, Angel Garza and Humberto Carrillo to Angel and Humberto, Shotzi Blackheart to Shotzi, and so on.

On the rare occasion, we either just get used to the new shorter name, or it can actually benefit. Elias is one of the people that benefitted from the name shortening.

‘Hello I am Elias Samson’ just doesn’t flow as well as ‘Hello I am Elias’, and his solo name took him to become one of the most popular stars on the roster, up until he died and his younger brother Ezekiel replaced him.
