Baron Corbin
…aaaaand I’ve lost you already. Hear me out, but Baron Corbin making a trip down to the Performance Center for NXT 2.0 would actually be a very worthwhile move for several reasons.
Corbin himself is a 100% WWE Performance Center creation, which is the exact kind of star that WWE is hoping to use 2.0 to help grow. Corbin’s longevity on WWE’s main roster clearly means that he knows a thing or two about maximising moments, which he could teach to a group of recruits who will be moulded in a similar fashion to him.
That’s enough about off screen though, on screen, Corbin is a complete 180 from what he was during his NXT days, so he’d basically feel like a new star on the show.
Who he should face: Cameron Grimes
Corbin also has the perfect foil right here already. Grimes and Corbin have a very similar backstory, they were both broke bums that found a fortune overnight, except one worked for it and was humbled by it, while the other felt entitled and lucked into it at a Casino.
Grimes and Corbin’s similar characters would lead to an obvious clashing of heads, as well as a contrast of styles that would make for a better match, as Corbin would look to overpower Grimes.
Grimes is a cult hero to the NXT fans, and him caving Happy Corbs into the canvas would only help further cement that.
