7. Shelton Benjamin

I like Shelton Benjamin, however I don’t think he’s a good fit on the main roster. Benjamin has always been athletically gifted, but he’s always struggled in the promo department. Perhaps I could be wrong, but I feel that’s due to the scripted nature that the main roster wrestlers are forced to do.

I don’t see Benjamin being pushed as a star on the main roster due to his age, but more so on Vince’s view on the former Intercontinental champion. His absence on SmackDown since his breakup with Chad Gable speaks values on what he thinks of Benjamin.

Benjamin would be better served down in NXT. The loose nature would allow him to inject his personality into his promos and the guy can still go inside the ring. He would be the veteran who helps talents down in the developmental brand.

Again though, I wouldn’t treat him as a jobber to every hot talent that comes in. While it’s important that Benjamin gives new talent a rub, he should remain a credible threat in the ring. While this does seem like a demotion for the talented superstar for keeping him down in NXT, tell me, did you remember that Shelton Benjamin was still employed by the company before you saw his name on this list?
