11 Best Celebrity Wrestling Matches Ever

5. Stephen Amell vs. Christopher Daniels (All In, 2018)

For me, this match ranks higher than Amell’s 2015 effort because as a singles match, this time fans got to see what he could really do and he didn’t disappoint.

Although Amell has since talked about how he blew up and the veteran Christopher Daniels carried him through the match, fans could tell he wanted to prove he could hang. He gets a reaction first by taking a series of chops before a high-angle takedown and stepping on the back of Daniels.

A little later fans on their feet when Amell hits a huge coast-to-coast before taking a table bump. He then takes a BME from Daniels for the finish but yet again earns the respect of his opponent and fans alike, which extends to the present day as Amell recently wrapped up the first season of his wrestling drama show, Heels.

4. Floyd Mayweather vs. Big Show (WrestleMania 24)

This is the celebrity match I most vividly remember from childhood–a twist on the classic David vs. Goliath narrative where David still wins, but he’s a D-bag.

The build-up was just perfect, with “Money’s” entourage coming to help seemingly at every turn but it was also aided by his boxing credibility and natural heel personality. He later retired unbeaten in boxing and Big Show actually broke his nose during the feud because of Mayweather’s hand speed.

Big Show throws him around the ring until the number difference becomes too much, a steel chair comes into play along with brass knuckles, protecting Big Show in defeat and while making major media outlets take notice.

3. Ronda Rousey & Kurt Angle vs. Stephanie McMahon & Triple H (WrestleMania 34)

The success of this match all comes back to Rousey being a fan and her combat background helping her take to pro wrestling like, well Kurt Angle.

Starting off, Rousey pays homage to Roddy Piper with her ring gear, everyone is protected in yet another tag match, Angle and Triple H prove they still have something in the tank, and there’s vintage McMahon heel work.

Every Rousey-Stephanie reaction feels like a callback to their in-ring meeting at WrestleMania 31 and Stephanie’s timidity leads to the immediate submission once Rousey connects with an armbar fully. This was lots of fun, even if the decision to later propel Rousey to the top of the women’s division afterward is viewed controversially.
