11 Exciting Potential Opponents For Christian Cage In AEW

4. MJF

MJF is perhaps the most can’t-miss young star in AEW. He has everything you could want in a young heel and has proven himself to be a classic old-school worker. And, of course, he can talk. While not necessarily known for his promos, Christian Cage is also a great talker. To have a dueling promo segment with these two would be just as exciting as a potential match.

That being said, MJF could greatly benefit from a rivalry with another veteran who also wrestles a fairly old-school style. Christian fills that role very well. With MJF now heading up his own stable, he will need people to clash with and Christian could end up being one of those people.

3. Hangman Page

Since November 2019, Hangman Page has transformed from a floundering upper-midcard babyface to one of the most intriguing and complete characters in wrestling. This is where Christian Cage could actually benefit from wrestling somewhere, rather than the other way around.

Christian comes into AEW wanting to outwork his competition but that doesn’t do much for his character. Granted he has been in the company for a very short amount of time as of this writing, but a character-driven rivalry could be very exciting and extremely helpful to make Christian a more interesting performer.

That being said, the match these two could have would be incredible as well.

2. Jon Moxley

Jon Moxley recently said that his dream AEW signing was Christian Cage. Well, consider this a dream come true for Moxley because it is basically an inevitability that these two will clash at some point. Moxley and Christian have competed before during their time in WWE but Moxley has been on another plane of existence compared to his WWE run over the last two years.

There is no doubt that Moxley would bring his absolute A-Game against Christian considering how bad he wants to wrestle him again. Additionally, Moxley has been one of the most heavily pushed and protected stars in AEW. Christian being positioned against him is a win in every way possible.

1. Kenny Omega

This is all but guaranteed after Christian’s first appearance on AEW Dynamite. How long we will have to wait to see Christian challenge Kenny Omega for the AEW World Championship remains to be seen but it is coming. It is also the most exciting match Christian could have in the company.

Kenny Omega’s reputation speaks for itself. There are few wrestlers over the last five years with a better claim to being the best wrestler in the world than Omega and now he is on top of AEW. If Christian wants to prove himself to be one of the best to ever do it as he has said, he needs to do it against the best. Right now, Kenny Omega is the best.
