11 WrestleMania 38 Plans That Changed Significantly

11. Butch, Ridge Holland & Sheamus vs. New Day

Let’s start with the one that’s freshest in our minds. Last week on SmackDown (March 11), Ridge Holland and Sheamus, an established tag team for months, introduced us to their newest pal.

That pal was Pete Dunne, which is pretty cool. Except, it wasn’t Pete Dunne, it was “Butch”. And therefore, it was, in fact, not pretty cool.

There followed a tag team match with Holland and Sheamus against New Day’s Big E and Kofi Kingston – a normal run-of-the-mill match that ideally should have gone by without complications.

However, disaster struck, and Big E suffered a legitimate broken neck during the match after a Holland belly-to-belly overhead suplex on the floor.

This obviously means E is now out of action, and won’t be competing at WrestleMania, and there has even been some talk that the nature of the neck injury he suffered could be a career-ender.

The incident was followed by a report from Fightful Select that detailed the plan was for New Day’s King Woods to make a return from his own recent injury in time for Mania to result in a three-on-three contest between both trios that will now no longer be possible.
