Randy Orton SHOULD Win The WWE Championship
Drew McIntyre defends the WWE Championship in what will presumably be the main event tonight, if it’s not the Universal Title match.
Orton has been running rampant on Raw in recent months, demolishing several legends such as Edge, Christian, Big Show, Ric Flair and Shawn Michaels.
If McIntyre can overcome Orton after all of that, it would really cement him as a top level guy, but the timing doesn’t feel quite right. If Orton beats McIntyre here, it puts his revamped ‘Legend Killer’ run in the history books.
This can benefit McIntyre too. He didn’t get his crowning moment in front of fans at WrestleMania, but that’s what he deserves. So my pitch here is that, when fans can be back physically in arenas, McIntyre wins the WWE Title back from Orton – overcoming the adversity of losing to him the first time, and getting his true crowning moment.
Braun Strowman SHOULD NOT Beat “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt
When “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt won the Universal Title for the first time in October last year against Seth Rollins, it was too soon. It almost felt destined to fail, and fail it did.
From a non-finish in a Hell in a Cell match, to losing to Goldberg in a couple of minutes at the last major show before WrestleMania, WWE well and truly dropped the ball.
Wyatt’s program with Strowman has been going ever since WrestleMania really. They had a match at Money in the Bank in May which Strowman won, but that was the regular Bray Wyatt, not The Fiend. And when it came to the Swamp Fight at Extreme Rules, Wyatt came out on top.
If we don’t get another silly cinematic spectacle, and this is just an in-ring match between The Fiend and Strowman, The Fiend has to win. No booking a non-finish to try and get out of it or ‘protect’ Strowman. The Fiend has to win tonight.
It’s Falls Count Anywhere, so if WWE does find a way to not give us a decisive result, we probably reserve the right to complain again.
