Why is it that WWE decided to ride the marketing coattails of the Marvel Cinematic Universe by calling their fans the same thing? To them, we are part of the WWE Universe, which encompasses Raw, SmackDown, 205 Not Live, NXT, and NXT UK. Why is it that WWE correctly appropriated the terminology of the MCU, and then left out all of the other things that have made the MCU into an entertainment juggernaut?
What if WWE had dug a little bit deeper? If they want to bring their fans back around from the flagging ratings and house sales, why not steal more structural guidelines from the superhero movies? WWE considers their wrestlers to be real-life superheroes, now they have to start properly telling their stories.
