AEW has a massive summer of shows lined up.
On 18 June they debut at the historic Arena Mexico, followed by All In: Texas on 12 July – their first stadium show in the U.S. – and then Forbidden Door, held in the UK for the first time on 24 August.
With events of this scale, it’s certain that we’ll see championships changing hands.
Below are the titles most likely to change at these blockbuster shows.
Kenny Omega Unifies AEW Continental & International Championships
At All In: Texas, Kenny Omega and Kazuchika Okada are set to meet for the first time in seven years, rekindling their legendary rivalry that began in New Japan Pro-Wrestling.
With Omega holding the AEW International Championship and Okada reigning as Continental Champion, the match will crown the first-ever Unified Champion — with the new title belt unveiled on the 11 May edition of Dynamite.
Their last meeting, at NJPW’s Dominion in 2018, is widely regarded as the greatest match in professional wrestling history – and it remains to be seen whether they can equal or surpass that encounter.
What is certain, however, is that a new champion will be crowned — and it seems likely that company icon Omega will have his hand raised as the inaugural Unified Champion.
