While there is perpetual discourse between fans regarding whether there are too many titles in AEW, there is a chance that some of the less important titles could be fazed out in favor of new ones.
Each with a unique spin and a genuine purpose to bring something special to AEW, there are absolutely ways that new titles could make for great stories and matches in the future.
Here are five new AEW Championships that Tony Khan could introduce in 2025.
5. AEW Welterweight Championship
While there is certainly enough talent and fan interest in the Heavyweight division, AEW is also stacked with stars of a lighter stature.
There could definitely be a cruiserweight style title and division represented in AEW as well but probably with a different name.
While in UFC terms the Welterweight class is defined as topping out at 170 lbs – there’s other terms for Tony Khan to choose from depending on his definition for the division.
The title could provide an opportunity to showcase talent from partner promotions like NJPW and CMLL as well. While it would not have to be consistently defended, it would be a fun to see occasional defenses when the story fit.
