5 NXT Teams Who Should Face the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions

2. Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shafir

Shayna Baszler and Ronda Rousey have proven to WWE audiences how unstoppable the MMA Four Horsewomen can be. Duke and Shafir are the two remaining Horsewomen, yet to properly strike the women of Raw and Smackdown.

This duo is so tough, Baszler, one of the most dominant NXT Champions ever, used them as bodyguards. After successful transitions from MMA trailblazers to WWE competitors, Jessamyn and Marina use years of experience to dissect opponents.

Duke and Shafir easily destroy the women of The Gold Brand physically and mentally. Accordingly, the Horsewomen look to fight on the same platform as their other MMA comrades.

Any weaknesses on the mat are exploited by the grappling specialists. Unless the champions would be prepared for a war, any challenge issued by The Horsewomen would end with the announcer declaring ‘And New!’

1. Rhea Ripley and Toni Storm

The first two NXT UK Women’s Champions have fought both with and against each other. Consequently, both competitors have a unique respect for one another.

After debuting in the 2017 Mae Young Classic, the two international stars had a bitter rivalry over NXT UK’s top prize. Recognising their gutsy battles, Rhea handpicked Storm to team with, representing NXT during the 2019 Survivor Series match.

Storm already has an amazing wrestling resume, with numerous international championship wins before signing with WWE. Rhea’s years of experience prior to WWE, and her increase in popularity after becoming an NXT star give her similar credentials. Because of these accomplishments, Team Rhea and Toni would quickly become a popular faction.

Their Survivor Series showing demonstrates that if they became a team, it wouldn’t be an uncharted territory. Two of the most decorated women in wrestling today, Ripley and Storm’s partnership would no-doubt produce world-class contests.

This team challenging for the Women’s Tag Team Championship could see the titles legitimised for hardcore wrestling fans.
