5 Potential Challengers If Keith Lee Wins NXT ‘Winner Takes All’ Match 

After retaining his North American Championship this past Wednesday, Keith Lee is set to face Adam Cole on July 8. Closing out NXT’s ‘Great American Bash’, both the NXT and North American titles will be wagered in a unique ‘Winner Takes All’ encounter.

With a double champion almost guaranteed, whoever walks away with the ‘W’ will become NXT’s biggest star. If Lee manages to pin the longest-reigning NXT Champion in history, he will have painted a huge target on his back.

Here are five possible competitors that could challenge Lee if he becomes a double champion.

5. Tommaso Ciampa

Tommaso Ciampa’s name used to have devastating connotations, striking fear into the hearts of even the strongest competitors. After a quick defeat at NXT TakeOver: In Your House, he should be willing to reassert his dominance.

With NXT and Tag Title reigns, Ciampa is a talented competitor, not unfamiliar with gold. His viciousness, combined with his hunger for redemption would pose a significant threat to the 340-pounder. 

If Lee would want a challenge, and the opportunity to defeat one of NXT’s most decorated talents, this rivalry would be highly anticipated by the competitors and the fans.

4. Cameron Grimes

Since making the final of the NXT Breakout Tournament last year, Cameron Grimes has climbed the Performance Center totem pole. With wins over Kushida, Tyler Bate, and Finn Bálor, he has defeated some of the greatest champions the NXT brand has ever seen.   

Fittingly, Grimes’ only title match on NXT TV was for Keith Lee’s North American Championship. Although he came up short, Grimes has taken Lee to his limit, a feat that not many competitors can claim.

A renewal of one of Lee’s latest rivalries, facing Grimes would be an impressive encounter between two athletic heavyweights.

3. Karrion Kross

It’s scary how quickly Karrion Kross has risen to the top of NXT. After two months on the gold brand, Kross has submitted out a former NXT Champion, and threatened the current one. 

NXT’s top prize is always in the conversation when Kross competes, so if Lee defeats Cole, Kross will probably target the ‘Limitless One’. 

Both athletes have the potential to become the face of NXT, a battle for supremacy is coming, sooner or later. Cole will be Lee’s toughest challenge come July 8, but would be nothing compared to the hungry heavyweight, Kross.
