5. Don’t Let AJ Styles vs. Edge Go Too Long
Yes, I know. I’m sure these guys know what they’re doing. I just really hope we, and they, don’t come out of WrestleMania disappointed.
If there has been one problem with Edge’s return, it’s that his big matches – especially the ones with Randy Orton last year – have gone too long. They just have.
Last year’s WrestleMania main event was a three-way, it was Roman Reigns, it was the actual main event and not in the middle of the card – it was a bit different.
But in a one-on-one scenario, I can’t help but feel like Edge seems to have developed a tendency to think long matches = classic matches. Classic matches don’t have to be 45 minutes, they don’t have to be half an hour.
By no means am I saying this should be one those Lesnar/Goldberg-esque big-moves-and-done matches, but they need to make sure it doesn’t go on forever to the point we’re sat there wondering “when will this end”, rather than fawning over how great it is.
Other matches on WrestleMania Sunday include RK-Bro vs Street Profits vs Alpha Academy, Pat McAfee vs Austin Theory, and of course Roman Reigns vs Brock Lesnar. All matches that could go a decent length of time, so it’s important this one doesn’t go too far.
