5 WWE Records Held By The 24/7 Championship

The 24/7 Title has been a breath of fresh air in WWE, offering light relief and some genuine funny moments since its inception a couple of months back.

Thanks to the antics of R-Truth, Drake Maverick and co. the 24/7 belt has become a highlight of the week, an impressive turnaround for a concept that was booed out of the building when it was launched.

The big green belt was the focal point of several segments on Raw Reunion, giving various WWE legends another accolade to add to their list of achievements.

After the shenanigans at Raw Reunion the 24/7 Title now holds several WWE records relating to championship belts. Here are five of them. Let us know if you can think of any more.

Oldest Champion In WWE History

At 78 years old, Pat Patterson became the oldest person to ever hold a title in WWE when he defeated Drake Maverick to capture the 24/7 belt.

The win was an homage to Patterson’s brief spell as Hardcore Champion back in 2000, which is a fondly remembered moment from the Attitude Era.

Patterson’s win means he surpasses The Fabulous Moolah’s 20-year record of being the oldest champ in WWE history. Moolah was 76 when she defeated Ivory to win the Women’s Title at No Mercy.

Shortest Title Reign

Gerald Brisco managed a whopping 32 seconds as 24/7 Champion before getting kicked in the groin by Kelly Kelly and pinned.

The shortest title run on record prior to that is believed to be The Big Show’s 45-second run as Hardcore Champion back in the Attitude Era.

Brisco’s win over Patterson to win the belt was revenge 19 years in the making for his Stooge partner betraying him to win the Hardcore Title.

Well, they do say revenge is a dish best served cold.

Longest Time Between Title Wins For An Individual

When Alundra Blayze choked out Candice Michelle to win the 24/7 Title, it marked the first time she had captured championship gold in WWE since beating Bertha Faye to win the original Women’s Title in October 1995.

That near-24-year gap was the largest between title reigns of anyone in WWE history.

Blayze’s record lasted for mere minutes. Later in the evening she sold the title to Ted DiBiase, who as well as taking Blayze’s title also took her record.

Prior to purchasing the 24/7 belt, DiBiase’s last title win came in June 1993 when he and Money Inc. tag partner IRS defeated The Steiner Brothers to become WWE Tag Team Champions for a third time.

The 26-year gap between DiBiase winning the two titles is by far the longest in WWE history, surpassing the likes of The Rock (WWE Title), The New Age Outlaws (Tag Titles) and even Patterson and Brisco (Hardcore Title).

Title With Most Champions Of Different Genders

The 24/7 Title can reasonably be considered the closest thing to an Intergender Title that WWE has.

Although women and men have held the same title before (Chyna held the IC Title twice), it has been almost two decades since WWE had a title that could be contested for by truly anyone.

The 24/7 Title wins for Kelly Kelly, Candice Michelle and Alundra Blayze tie the belt with the Hardcore Title for the championship with the most title holders from different genders.

The Hardcore Title was held by Terri Runnels, Mighty Molly and one of the Godfather’s Ho’s, only that was over several years. The 24/7 belt matched that in a single day and chances are more women will hold the belt in the near future.

Our money would be on Renee Michelle and Carmella, for sure.

Most Unique Title Holders In A Single Day

Another tied record for the 24/7 Title here, with nine unique title holders walking around as champion on Raw Reunion.

That puts the belt level with the Hardcore Title, which was held by nine different people over the course of a battle royal at WrestleMania 2000.

The Hardcore belt actually changed hands no fewer than 10 times that night, which may be the next record that the 24/7 belt has in its sights.

Last night it managed nine, so it came agonisingly close!
