# 6 Ways WWE Could Book Jay White’s Debut

It’s a tale as old as time: a wrestler makes a name for themselves in New Japan as a heel gaijin and leader of Bullet Club, has a generation-defining feud at Wrestle Kingdom, and then betrays the Dorito-stained hearts of his biggest Western fans by heading to WWE at the first opportunity.

Anyway, unrelated to any of that: did you guys hear about Jay White?

He just lost a Loser Leaves Japan match to Hikuleo at NJPW New Beginning, and now the rumor mill she is a-turning about where the bladed one could be arriving next.

At the time of writing, there’s no firm word on where White is headed, but since I possess the gift of basic pattern recognition I decided this article was a pretty safe bet to write.

Here are six ways WWE could book the debut of Switchblade Jay White:

## A Post-’Mania Angle With Cody

If Jay White does end up heading to WWE, he couldn’t really have a better introduction to the company than on the post-’Mania edition of WWE, staring down AND NEWWWWW WWE Champion Cody Rhodes.

This would actually be true of any new big signing, but the obvious angle of two former members of Bullet Club going toe-to-toe – while one of them is holding the company’s top title, no less – is just too juicy a prospect to pass up.

While this probably wouldn’t be a real possibility in the WWE of old (“old” being “like six months ago”), Triple H has shown not only a willingness to acknowledge the histories of the wrestlers under his employ, but a desire to get in on some of that New Japan action where he can.

Having White challenge Rhodes wouldn’t just be a great angle, but would actually provide a pretty fan-friendly explanation for White’s debut in the company.

In this scenario he isn’t just “selling out” to the bigger company; he’s capitalizing on the fact that a former member of the faction he himself led just months earlier has now reached the highest echelons of North American wrestling.

Not only that, but as a former leader of Bullet Club (a position Rhodes never aspired to), the stage would be set for White to throw down the gauntlet to somebody he sees as a less worthy, less relevant version of himself.

Bow down before the real boss, Cody.

## A Feud With AJ Styles

Let’s keep the Bullet Club train chugging along.

Speaking of clubs, AJ Styles’ current faction The OC is already a ready-made dollar store version of Bullet Club, featuring three prominent former members (including two former leaders).

While the stake would in theory be lower that they would be in the Cody scenario, lacking the macguffin of a top championship, in many ways this would be a wholesale importation of the Bullet Club storyline to WWE.

Here the four men can either team up to create a formidable new faction, before ultimately jockeying for position of number one most special bullet boy.

Can you even imagine the fatal four way that would come out of this match?

Each man would have a claim to the throne: Styles – the veteran. Anderson – the G1 prodigy. White – the most recent leader. Gallows – also there.

AEW would have to watch its ass; there’s a new discount Bullet Club in town.

## The Newest Member Of Judgment Day

Well, we may as well round out this trilogy by talking about not only a former Bullet Club leader, but the skull shirt daddy himself: Mr Finn Balor.

Putting Jay White in the Judgment Day probably sounds like a bit of a waste at a time when the group is, essentially, a comedy stable.

But even ignoring the fact that White is genuinely a pretty guy, and would likely fit the group’s aesthetic quite well (this group of backyard goths would gel pretty well with a guy who calls himself “Switchblade”), Rhea Ripley’s likely WWE Raw Women’s Championship win could well put the group on the road to legitimacy post-WrestleMania.

I mean, if you take Dominick out of there, what you’re looking at is a stable of the greatest workers in WWE right now; White wouldn’t be a crazy addition to a group that includes multiple former champions and certified badasses.

Moreover, the addition of White could be the silver bullet (club) that kickstarts their transformation from jobber stable to genuine threat.

## Roman Reigns’ Latest Challenge

There are a few assumptions being made in this article about where WWE will be in a few months, most notable among them the likelihood of Cody Rhodes beating Roman Reigns for his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.

But you have to consider the alternative: what if Roman retains?

While there are still a few challengers who could be a real problem for the Tribal Chief following his programme with Cody and Sami Zayn (Styles comes to mind), the Head of the Table has already made his way through the majority of the WWE roster.

Some new blood in a talent like White could really help shake up the title picture at a time when people could finally be beginning to tire of Reigns’ relentless dominance.

It’s not like White is a stranger to taking on top guys, main eventing night one of Wrestle Kingdom against Kazuchika Okada just months ago.

If his WWE presentation is anything close to his presentation in New Japan, this match-up would be an easy sell.

## A Bridge Between WWE And NJPW

![WWE and NJPW logos](https://cdn.wrestletalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/WWE-NJPW-logo.jpg)

This is kind of a weird one, but since we’re spitballing.

As previously noted, Jay White JUST main evented NJPW’s biggest event of the year.

We haven’t seen somebody make the jump to another big wrestling company after main eventing a show that big since Daniel Bryan Danielson defected to AEW in 2021.

Unlike that scenario, though, there isn’t any especially bad blood between WWE and NJPW, with the former allowing Karl Anderson to defend his NEVER Openweight Championship on New Japan pay-per-views on two separate occasions while under WWE contract.

Jay White would be a great bridging point between the two companies, with WWE loaning him out for special events in exchange for loaning certain big names, or even as the catalyst for a full fledged crossover pay-per-view.

Is it likely? Who’s to say. But it’s definitely more of a possibility than it has been in previous years.

## Surprise Money In The Bank Participant

![](https://cdn.wrestletalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Money-in-the-Bank-UK-London-O2.jpg)

If WWE wants to hold off on delaying Jay White’s debut until their next big premium live event, you can’t do better than Money In The Bank.

With this year’s event being in London, it’s likely to attract an even smarkier crowd than the average WWE event (I’m pretty sure some of the WrestleTalk guys will be there, booing the faces and chanting for AEW wrestlers as is our birthright).

Moreover, a UK crowd is going to be hungry for whatever surprises we can get our hands on, and will likely pop like an overinflated balloon at any crumbs WWE deigns to brush in our direction.

Not only would it be a great crowd to introduce White to, but the event itself leaves itself open to exactly the type of melodramatic heel shenanigans that White has made his forte.

Should he win? It isn’t a deal breaker; but go and re-read the number one entry on this list again, while imagining that White has the briefcase.

Oh yeah, that’s the good stuff.
