Triple H assumed creative control of WWE in July 2022, marking the end of Vince McMahon’s 40-year reign. McMahon made a comeback in 2023 but was gone again by the end of January 2024, leaving Triple H solely in charge.
McMahon’s version of pro-wrestling came with countless quirks and idiosyncrasies that defined the WWE product for years.
Since taking over, Triple H has changed many of those rules and stylistic choices.
Here are some of the changes he has made so far.
6. Pro-Wrestling Can Finally Be Said
Language was something that was heavily policed under Vince McMahon – with a long and bizarre list of banned words.
None were stranger than the term “pro-wrestling” itself, which McMahon insisted be replaced with “sports entertainment.”
In his “universe”, what WWE did was fundamentally different, and calling it wrestling was explicitly forbidden.
Under Triple H, this rule has finally been relaxed, and the phrase “pro-wrestling” can once again be spoken.
