Heading into WWE WrestleMania 42, all eyes are set on the main event showdown between Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton.

The two men battling for the Undisputed WWE Championship have garnered a ton of interest for better or worse that will make this bout one of the most anticipated of the entire two-night premium live event.

With all the attention this match has received, it will be interesting to see which WWE stars will get involved and have an impact on the result of Rhodes vs. Orton on WrestleMania Saturday.

Here are six WWE stars to potentially interfere in Randy Orton vs. Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 42.

6. Pat McAfee

On the April 3 edition of Friday Night SmackDown, Pat McAfee was revealed as Randy Orton’s mystery supporter that has guided him in the past month.

This has cemented an alliance between McAfee and Orton that seem hellbent on saving the business from mediocrity they feel has been prevalent with Rhodes on top.

McAfee’s presence has generated a ton of controversy heading into WrestleMania 42 in a multitude of ways.

It seems inevitable that McAfee will get involved and interfere during Orton vs. Rhodes in some capacity at WrestleMania 42 Saturday.

5. Jelly Roll

During the buildup to Cody Rhodes vs. Randy Orton at WrestleMania 42, Jelly Roll has been one of the featured characters involved in the story.

First trying to talk some sense to ‘The Viper,’ Jelly looked to play peacemaker between Orton and Rhodes, but it was not meant to be.

That led to Orton delivering a RKO to Jelly on the March 27 edition of SmackDown and then another attack on the April 10 episode as well.

Jelly having Cody’s back against the combined forces of Orton and McAfee should come into play in some way during this Undisputed WWE Championship match at ‘The Showcase of the Immortals.’

4. Matt Cardona

Following his betrayal of Cody Rhodes on the March 13 SmackDown, Randy Orton was confronted by Matt Cardona who expressed his displeasure with his decision to turn heel.

This led to Orton attacking Cardona not once, but twice and proceeded to injure his arm in the process.

Due to his involvement, Cardona could find himself getting involved in the Undisputed WWE Championship match at WrestleMania 42.

Cardona helping Rhodes against the alliance between Orton and Pat McAfee could even the odds, so ‘The American Nightmare’ does not get overwhelmed by the numbers.

3. Aleister Black

Ahead of WWE Elimination Chamber 2026, Aleister Black started to become the devil on the shoulder of Randy Orton.

Helping Orton embrace the dark side of his persona, Black showcased what makes him a master manipulator and sparked this recent heel run for ‘The Viper.’

While Orton has officially aligned with Pat McAfee, Black could be the one pulling the strings from the background.

Showing his true intentions, Black could get involved at WrestleMania 42 where he could help Orton win his 15th world title in Las Vegas.

2. Sami Zayn

Another WWE star who has been closely tied to the storyline between Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton is Sami Zayn.

Following WWE Elimination Chamber 2026, Zayn received some advice from Orton, who told him not to hesitate.

This led to several heated exchanges between Zayn and Rhodes backstage where their differences came bubbling up to the surface.

After the recent attitude change and reception for Zayn, it would make sense if Sami decided to help Orton beat Rhodes to dethrone him for the Undisputed WWE Championship at WrestleMania 42.

1. Kevin Owens

Someone who has been closely tied to both Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton over the past two years is Kevin Owens.

As a friend and rival, Owens knows both men in the main event of WrestleMania 42 Saturday quite well.

While he is currently sidelined with a serious neck injury, Owens could be someone who makes his return at the biggest stage possible like Mania.

KO interfering in Rhodes vs. Orton would feel like the most ideal spot for his comeback and see him impact the result of this headline bout at ‘The Show of Shows.’
