Heading into 2025 there are perhaps more AEW stars with an uncertain future than ever before, many of which were once members of the WWE roster.
While many stars have moved from WWE to AEW and found a new home, some have not had as much success. Either way the allure of a WWE return is something that will likely always be there, especially given the company’s hot run over the past few years.
Here are seven AEW stars who could return to WWE in the near future.
7. Keith Lee
It has now been almost exactly one year since we last saw Keith Lee compete inside an AEW ring.
After being pulled from his long-awaited one-on-one match with Swerve Strickland at AEW Worlds End in December 2023, Lee has been gone from TV, with Fightful Select revealing that the former WWE star has yet to be medically cleared due to an undisclosed medical issue.
Now, considering how long Lee has been off TV it’s hard not be concerned as fans, and his health is more important than anything else.
Should he be cleared to return as we all hope, there will be optimism that AEW can find a good use for him on TV, as his booking was far from consistent before his hiatus. Should that not happen though then it will be difficult to imagine there not being links to a WWE return, given his success under Triple H’s creative in the past.
