With WWE Night of Champions 2026 in the rearview mirror, the company is all speed ahead to the SummerSlam 2026 premium live event.
The card will see Roman Reigns defending the World Heavyweight Championship against Seth Rollins, IYO SKY challenging Liv Morgan for the WWE Women’s World Championship and Brock Lesnar vs. Oba Femi in Hell In A Cell.
Considering all three matches come from Monday Night Raw, fans should expect some SmackDown branded bouts being added in the coming weeks.
Here are seven SmackDown matches to be potentially added to WWE SummerSlam 2026.
GUNTHER vs. Nick Aldis
Nick Aldis has yet to compete in a match since he signed with WWE as the SmackDown General Manager
At WWE Night of Champions 2026, Sami Zayn defeated Cody Rhodes and GUNTHER to win the Undisputed WWE Championship.
Following the show going off the air, GUNTHER confronted Nick Aldis backstage and got into a physical shoving match with the SmackDown General Manager.
This led to both men being asked to stay home and Aldis being put on administrative leave due to putting his hands on a WWE star.
After several teases since his WWE arrival, it might be time for Aldis to lace up the boots again to face GUNTHER at the SummerSlam 2026 premium live event.
WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship: Paige & Brie Bella (c) vs. Fatal Influence (Fallon Henley & Lainey Reid)
Since making their main roster debut on the April 24 WWE SmackDown After WrestleMania 42, Fatal Influence have been focused on capturing gold.
Jacy Jayne, Fallon Henley and Lainey Reid immediately attacked Paige, Brie Bella, Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair the minute they showed up on the blue brand.
Despite losing in a non-title match, Reid picked up a singles win over Bella and got Fatal Influence a title opportunity at the upcoming WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event.
Whether it be a rematch or the roles reversing, Paige and Brie facing Fatal Influence will make for an interesting clash on the WWE SummerSlam 2026 card.
WWE Women’s United States Championship: Tiffany Stratton (c) vs. Blake Monroe
Blake Monroe was called up from WWE NXT to SmackDown following WrestleMania 42
Over the past few weeks, fans have seen some vignettes to hype up the arrival of Blake Monroe.
In one of the video packages, Monroe called out and expressed her issues with WWE Women’s United States Champion Tiffany Stratton.
After making her official main roster debut on the June 26 SmackDown, Monroe is looking to establish herself as a top star on the blue brand.
Monroe challenging Stratton for the Women’s US Title would further cement her spot on SmackDown coming out of WWE SummerSlam 2026.
WWE United States Championship: Trick Williams (c) vs. Carmelo Hayes
In recent months, Carmelo Hayes has made it crystal clear that he wants the WWE United States Championship back.
To do so, Hayes has been forced to challenge his former tag team partner and best friend Trick Williams.
On the July 10 episode of SmackDown, Williams will face Hayes in a non-title match that will have some consequences coming out of the contest.
Melo winning this non-title bout could open the door for him to challenge Trick for the United States Title at WWE SummerSlam 2026 from Minneapolis this August.
Charlotte Flair vs. Jade Cargill
Charlotte Flair cost Jade Cargill the WWE Women’s United States Championship at Night of Champions 2026
Over the past few months, Charlotte Flair has found herself embroiled in a feud with Jade Cargill.
At WWE Clash In Italy 2026, Cargill lost to Rhea Ripley in a rematch for the WWE Women’s Championship.
This loss came as a result of Flair fighting off Cargill’s stablemates Michin and B-Fab before Ripley pulled out the victory.
After costing each other the WWE Women’s Championship, Women’s US Title and Queen of the Ring tournament, it might be time for Flair and Cargill to collide at SummerSlam 2026 on August 1 or 2.
WWE Women’s Championship: Rhea Ripley (c) vs. Jacy Jayne
Since arriving on the WWE main roster, Jacy Jayne has had her sights on the WWE Women’s Championship.
On her first night on SmackDown, Jayne stepped in the ring with Rhea Ripley and took her to the limit before Fatal Influence interfered to cause a disqualification.
After beating Jade Cargill to retain her gold at WWE Clash In Italy 2026, Ripley has been sidelined with a reported knee injury.
Ripley defending the title against Jayne at WWE SummerSlam 2026 could make for a crowning achievement for Fatal Influence that they have been working towards.
Undisputed WWE Championship: CM Punk (c) vs. Cody Rhodes
CM Punk teased challenging Cody Rhodes for his Undisputed WWE Title during their meeting on the Raw after WrestleMania 42, only to return and take Cody’s place in his Undisputed WWE Title match with Sami Zayn three months later on the July 6 episode of Raw
On the July 6 edition of Monday Night Raw, CM Punk defeated Sami Zayn to win the Undisputed WWE Championship.
However, Punk’s title match was originally scheduled to be Cody Rhodes’ opportunity until GUNTHER attacked him backstage to put him on the shelf and force him to be replaced.
Now that Punk is the champion, Rhodes should be at the front of the line for the first shot at the gold.
Punk and Rhodes clashing at WWE SummerSlam 2026 would make for a compelling headliner for the card from Minneapolis, Minnesota.
