On Saturday, May 9, WWE will present its latest premium live event with Backlash 2026 from Tampa, Florida.

While there were six title changes at WrestleMania 42, there could be even more on the first PLE since ‘The Showcase of the Immortals.’

Considering that there should be several title bouts on the card, more championships could be changing hands come May 9 in Tampa.

Here are seven potential title changes at WWE Backlash 2026.

7. Randy Orton Becomes A 15-time World Champion By Defeating Cody Rhodes To Win The Undisputed WWE Championship

Although Cody Rhodes retained the Undisputed WWE Championship at WrestleMania 42, Randy Orton was the last man standing

At WrestleMania 42 Night One, Cody Rhodes defeated Randy Orton to retain the Undisputed WWE Championship.

This loss came after Pat McAfee came in as a referee and did not give Orton a fast count to help him win, so ‘The Viper’ laid out the former NFL punter with an RKO.

Then after the match, Orton got a measure of revenge by nailing Rhodes with a title belt and delivering a Punt Kick.

With Cody coming out of Mania with a swollen eye, this could set the stage for Orton to become a 15-time world champion come WWE Backlash 2026.

6. Tiffany Stratton Overcomes Giulia To Win The Women’s United States Championship

Tiffany Stratton defeated Jordynne Grace to become WWE Women’s United States Championship #1 contender

On the April 17 edition of Friday Night SmackDown ahead of WrestleMania 42, Tiffany Stratton defeated Jordynne Grace to become the number one contender for the WWE Women’s United States Championship.

Earning herself a shot at the title, Stratton will now move on to face Giulia for the Women’s US Championship sometime soon.

While this bout could easily take place on an episode of Friday Night SmackDown, the WWE Women’s United States Title deserves a spot on a premium live event card after being left off of Mania.

Stratton winning the gold against Giulia could put her right back in a prominent spot on SmackDown coming out of WWE Backlash 2026 that places him back in the mix moving forward.

5. Stephanie Vaquer Regains The Women’s World Championship From Liv Morgan

Liv Morgan became a three-time Women’s World Champion by defeating Stephanie Vaquer at WrestleMania 42 (one of those three reigns was when the title was still known as the SmackDown Women’s Championship)

At the WrestleMania 42 Night One premium live event, Liv Morgan defeated Stephanie Vaquer to win the WWE Women’s World Championship.

This win came as a result of plenty of outside interference from The Judgment Day’s Roxanne Perez and Raquel Rodriguez.

Then on the April 20 WWE Raw after WrestleMania 42, Vaquer stepped up to the new champion and made it clear that she was coming to get her title back.

WWE Backlash 2026 could see ‘La Primera’ reclaim the top prize on the Raw women’s division from Morgan in Tampa.

4. Bayley & Lyra Valkyria Beat Paige & Brie Bella To Win The WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship

At WWE WrestleMania 42 Night One, Paige made her return to the company for her first WWE match since 2017 to team with Brie Bella to defeat The Irresistible Forces, Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss and Bayley and Lyra Valkyria to win the WWE Women’s Tag Title.

Now that Paige and Brie stand atop of the women’s tag team division, it should be interesting to see which challengers step up to face them for the gold.

Bayley and Lyra remain one of the best duos in this scene and could make for a formidable pairing to face the new champions at WWE Backlash 2026.

After coming up short at WrestleMania 42, Bayley and Lyra could capture the WWE Women’s Tag Team Team Championship from Paige and Brie next month at Backlash.

3. Street Profits Defeat The Vision’s Logan Paul & Austin Theory To Capture The WWE World Tag Team Championship

On the April 20 WWE Raw after WrestleMania 42, The Street Profits made their return to the company for the first time since September 2025.

After The Vision jumped Seth Rollins, Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins made their comeback to make the save and brawl with the reigning WWE World Tag Team Champions.

The Street Profits are multi-time WWE Tag Team Champions and should make for more than formidable challengers for Logan Paul and Austin Theory.

Becoming five-time champions, The Street Profits could take their rightful place at the mountaintop of the WWE tag team division at Backlash 2026 on May 9.

2. Sol Ruca Wins The WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship From Becky Lynch

Making her official main roster debut, Sol Ruca interrupted new WWE Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan following her win at WrestleMania 42 on the April 20 Monday Night Raw.

In an impressive showing, Ruca took Morgan to her limits and came close to defeating the reigning champion.

After coming up short, Sol could look to reaffirm her spot on the WWE main roster by challenging another champion as soon as possible.

Following her win over AJ Lee to win the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania 42 Night One, Becky Lynch could face the challenger who could end her third reign with the gold in Sol Ruca at Backlash 2026.

1. Jacob Fatu Dethrones Roman Reigns For The World Heavyweight Championship

Jacob Fatu called out Roman Reigns for a World Heavyweight Championship match at WWE Backlash 2026

On the April 20 WWE Raw After WrestleMania 42, Jacob Fatu stepped up to challenge Roman Reigns for the World Heavyweight Championship at Backlash 2026.

Not wanting the status as ‘The Tribal Chief,’ Fatu stated that he wanted everything ‘The OTC’ had, including the shoe deal, a bigger house and better schools for his kids.

After being asked to think over his decision, it looks like Fatu will challenge Reigns for the top prize on Monday Night Raw on May 9 in Tampa, Florida.

While most fans would think Roman will not lose the title anytime soon, Fatu may have what it takes to be the one to dethrone ‘The Head of the Table’ at the WWE Backlash 2026 premium live event.
