With Cody Rhodes approaching one year as Undisputed WWE Champion, there has been some speculation about the American Nightmare’s title reign coming to an end.

Despite this, numerous stars have emerged as potential WWE Title challengers, targeting Rhodes personally in addition to his gold.

While Rhodes will face off against either Royal Rumble winner Jey Uso or the winner of the upcoming Elimination Chamber match at WrestleMania 41, WWE appears to have numerous opponents lined up for the current champion.

Here are seven potential title challengers for WWE Champion Cody Rhodes.

7. Penta

WWE has established Penta as a potential championship contender during his few appearances for the company, already having the luchador confront Intercontinental Champion Bron Breakker on the January 27 Raw episode.

While it seems an Intercontinental Title match could be in Penta’s future, the Mexican star recently revealed that he wants to face Cody Rhodes to avenge a previous loss.

Rhodes defeated Penta on the March 11, 2021 AEW Dynamite: St Patrick’s Day Slam show in an exciting match which Penta wants to run back.

While Penta and Rhodes currently wrestle on separate brands, an eventual clash would allow Penta to solidify himself in the main event scene.
