When news broke that Adam Cole’s WWE contract was expiring, a rumour broke that the company wanted Cole to be a manager for Lee on the main roster.
Two things AEW does extremely well are acknowledging the past and referencing insider information.
A showdown between Keith Lee and Adam Cole would check both boxes.
The two stars met in the Champion vs. Champion Winner Takes All main event of NXT Great American Bash in 2020. This was a show that beat AEW in the ratings as well.
Not only would this be a cool “wink and nod” to the fans, but it would also produce another quality wrestling contest between two top stars.
