The WWE roster is as stacked as ever, and it seems like a majority of stars are happy under Triple H’s creative. However, with such a large roster of stars there is always going to be some that may have their head turned by AEW.
There are stars on both WWE and AEW’s rosters that would be better off in the other company for whatever reason.
Look at Ricochet for example, a star that many feel is AEW bound – his style seems tailor made for AEW – and he could feasibly reach main event status there, where as in WWE he was unlikely to ever reach heights beyond the mid-card.
So, for this list we’re going to take a look at stars currently signed to WWE who could leave at the end of their contracts and join AEW.
8. Shinsuke Nakamura To Leave WWE & Join AEW?
At the time of writing its been four months since Shinsuke Nakamura last competed on WWE TV.
This has been nothing to do with an injury, as the Japanese star has continued to compete on WWE live events.
From the outside looking in, it seems like an obvious case of a lack of creative ideas for the veteran.
It can be argued that you’re better being off TV than languishing on it and taking losses without direction, but for a star of the calibre of Nakamura it does seem like a massive waste.
Nakamura signed his WWE deal back in 2019, so it’s feasible that it could be coming up soon – it just depends whether he’s happy as a bit part player or is keen on having one final run elsewhere.
His legendary status in Japan is something that AEW would no doubt tap into, and by joining Tony Khan’s company he could then make his return to NJPW also. At this point that seems like a far better option for him.
