Dating back to the 1980s, WWE has been known for looking for future singles stars and main eventers from the tag team scene.
From The Rockers to The Hart Foundation, several different duos have helped the promotion find individual talents that are deserving of the spotlight.
Looking at the current tag team division, there are several tandems that have potential breakout stars who could rise up the card on their own as much as they have together.
Here are nine WWE tag team members to potentially become singles stars.
9. Johnny Gargano
DIY have become one of the best tag teams not only on SmackDown, but in the entire WWE.
The two-time WWE Tag Team Champions have found themselves with plenty of momentum coming off the heels of their exceptional performance in the TLC Match on the April 25 SmackDown after WrestleMania 41.
However, Johnny Gargano has long been considered one of the best underdog babyface stars in recent WWE history that could follow in the footsteps of the likes of Bryan Danielson and Sami Zayn.
Whenever WWE decides to split DIY, Gargano could find himself filling a similar role to the one he played over in NXT and become a top babyface on the main roster.
