Since returning to AEW in the fall of 2024, Jon Moxley underwent a character change that saw him turn heel and became the leader of The Death Riders.
Capturing the AEW World Championship after destroying Bryan Danielson at WrestleDream, Moxley started his takeover of the entire company, keeping the top prize of the promotion in a briefcase for nine months now.
When Moxley’s reign is over, AEW may have to look elsewhere to one of the other stars to take his place as the top heel of the company.
Here are eight potential AEW replacements for Jon Moxley.
8. MJF
Before Jon Moxley took the spot of top heel in AEW, that spot was filled by Maxwell Jacob Friedman, better known as MJF.
Friedman held the mantle of top heel when he betrayed Cody Rhodes back in 2019 and held down that position until he turned babyface during his record-breaking 406 day AEW World Title reign.
Turning back heel during his rivalry with Daniel Garcia and Will Ospreay in the summer of 2024, MJF has spoken about potentially regaining his Triple B. Now with The Hurt Syndicate by his side, nothing will stop Friedman from his ultimate goal.
Whether it is by taking the AEW World Title from Moxley himself or winning it from the person who dethrones The Death Riders leader, MJF could reclaim his spot as the top heel in the promotion once and for all.
