Facts, Opinions, And Rumors: AEW All Out Edition

Facts, Opinions, And Rumors: AEW All Out Edition

We’re back with another edition of Facts, Opinions, and Rumors heading into All Elite Wrestling’s All Out.  AEW is hosting it’s final pay-per-view before starting live weekly televisions.  Rumors are flying fast and furious heading into this weekend’s show.  Who will make surprise appearances and much more.

Is There A Storm Coming to AEW?

Fact:

Lance Storm has shut down his wrestling school in Canada.

Rumor:

Lance Storm’s closing of the Lance Storm Wrestling Academy means he is signing on full time to work for either WWE or AEW.

Opinion:

Despite his opinion of Randy Andy Datson, Lance Storm is well known for being one of the better minds in wrestling.  If you follow him on Twitter, then you will see most of his tweets about wrestling storylines and plot holes are actually reasonable and make a lot of sense.  Additionally, Lance Storm was also a very good worker in the ring and he appears to be talented in passing along the fundamentals to students.  The Storm Wrestling Academy has produced wrestlers like Tyler Breeze, Oney Lorcan, Chelsea Green, Peyton Royce, Rachel Ellering, Taya Valkerie, and Emma.

Looking at this list, he’s actually done an incredible job with a lot of female wrestlers.  It would make a lot of sense for him to work with AEW or NXT as a trainer.  Given the 21 Woman Casino Battle Royal, maybe Storm is going to be heading up training for the AEW Women’s division.  Unless, Sara Del Rey has a new role or is leaving WWE, that position is filled down in NXT.  He also would be just as good working with men.

There’s also the fact that he’s only 50 years old.  We’ve seen Jericho and Dustin Rhodes put on high quality matches around that age.  We can’t rule out the possibility he might return to the ring.

Who Will Enter the 21 Woman Casino Battle Royale?

Fact:

11 Women have been announced so far.  This leaves 10 spots still yet to be claimed.

Rumors:

Tessa Blanchard might appear as a surprise entrant.

Emma/Tenille Dashwood will appear in the match.

Scarlett Bordeaux is potentially an entrant in the match.

Opinion:

Tessa Blanchard and Tenille Dashwood are both reportedly signed with Impact Wrestling.  Scarlett Bordeaux received her release from the company a few months back.  It seems like a long shot for either Dashwood or Blanchard to appear unless AEW and Impact Wrestling have worked something out.  Don Callis does have good working relationships with many of the Elite/Executive Vice Presidents of AEW.  Consequently, it seems like a win-win for both parties.  Tessa Blanchard is probably the biggest name in the Women’s division not signed to either AEW or WWE. Her dad is also appearing on the show.

On the other hand, Bordeaux is not signed anywhere.  She’s been wrestling down in AAA.  She even recently partnered with Sammy Guevara.  She made a bit of a name for herself in Impact Wrestling, before flaming out after being partnered with Fallah Bahh.  AEW seems like a great place for her to land and wouldn’t be a huge surprise to see in the battle royal.

PAC vs. Omega

Fact:

PAC is appearing to face Kenny Omega as a replacement for Jon Moxley.  Moxley has a staff infection in his elbow preventing him from wrestling on the show.

Rumors:

Originally, reports stated PAC was always a planned part of the show in some capacity. However, Dave Meltzer later said, on Wrestling Observer Radio, PAC was never supposed to appear.  He was truly a last minute replacement.

It is also now being rumored this is a one-off match for PAC.  He has no future plans or bookings for AEW.

Opinion:

There are such things as happy accidents.  Obviously, Jon Moxley is a huge part of AEW moving forward and will have a chance to wrestle Kenny Omega at a later date.  He’s also a huge name with some mainstream appeal having come over from WWE.  However, PAC vs. Kenny Omega is a dream match for many wrestling fans.  PAC’s WWE run doesn’t bring the same weight as Jon Moxley, but the match has the potential to be a better in-ring product.

Moxley could still appear.  Moxley’s status isn’t completely known. However, if he is able to, he could interfere or be a part of the match to somehow continue the feud with Omega.  In the end, having Omega vs. Moxley continue to play out on the television series instead of the pay-per-view could be what is best for business in the long run.

Will We See Johnny Elite’s Debut for AEW?

Fact:

John Morrison/Johnny Nitro/Johnny Impact/Johnny Mundo has appeared on Being The Elite with The Lucha Stunt Boys.

Johnny is no longer under contract with Impact Wrestling.

Rumor:

Johnny has signed with AEW.

Opinion:

Personally, I’m not the biggest John Morrison fan.  However, when you’re starting a new wrestling company and want to attract viewers to your new television show having names familiar to wrestling fans isn’t a bad thing.  This is especially true if you can bring in viewers who have quit watching the other products.  John Morrison would be a recognizable name for someone who hasn’t watched WWE in 4 or 5 years.

Will John Morrison debut on the pay-per-view or be saved for a television debut? Given he’s technically from Los Angeles, California which is located in Southern California, could we see a new addition to SCU?  Could he help his SoCal buddies pick up a win?  Will he be associated with his Parkour buddies as we saw in the video? Morrison teamed with Angelico and Jack Evans in Lucha Underground.  It’s likely a matter of when and not if for John Morrison.

CM Punk to AEW Confirmed

Fact:

CM Punk took a bump in a wrestling ring.

Punk called out AEW for sending offers via text message.

CM Punk reacted to Cody Rhode’s tweet about leaving “crappy” people behind.

Rumor:

CM Punk’s agent reached out to FOX officials to inquire about hosting a talk show about WWE.

Opinion:

IT’S GOING TO HAPPEN.  IT’S GOING TO HAPPEN.  OH MY GOD, IT’S GOING TO HAPPEN.  If you say it 3 times, it makes it come true, right?  The wrestling world will melt down if this actually happens.  Wrestling fans are consistently looking for swerves and have grown accustomed to misinformation to help throw off the scent.  Most likely, CM Punk is just making an appearance for Starrcast.

However, there’s always a chance.  If AEW were able to convince CM Punk to return, having all these anti-return style promotions would seem like something like The Elite Vice Presidents would do.  Due to the fact he’s probably the only name available who can truly impact ratings, CM Punk returning would also be a major, major coup.  Given all the other times we’ve fallen for this, it looks like the stars are aligning for his return.  While we’re all likely to be disappointed, maybe, this will be the time he has finally decided to return.
