For the past 27 years, AJ Styles has set a new standard for in-ring excellence that has seen him have countless instant classics across the indies, TNA Wrestling, Ring of Honor, New Japan Pro Wrestling and WWE.

With recent reports indicating that Styles signed a one-year contract extension at the end of 2024, fans have been speculating if they could be watching the final run of “The Phenomenal One.”

If Styles’ in-ring career could be winding down, there should be a special star chosen to be his final WWE opponent before he hangs his boots up for good.

Here are nine potential options for AJ Styles final WWE opponent.

9. Finn Balor

During his time in WWE, AJ Styles has faced a lot of major stars for the first time, but none had the meaning behind it that his first clash with Finn Balor had.

Facing him at TLC 2017, it was a dream match between the first two leaders of the historic Bullet Club faction.

Since that initial showdown, the two men have met inside the squared circle several times over the past eight years, including most recently on the May 12 edition of Monday Night Raw.

Considering their rivalry and friendship they have created outside the squared circle, Balor would be a very appropriate choice to be AJ’s final opponent where the two stars could play off of their long history and connection with one another.
