WWE
In a recent interview with Tokyo Sports, AJ Styles admitted that he intends on retiring from in-ring competition in 2026.
With “The Phenomenal One” set to hang up his boots, it remains to be seen who the company might choose to face the former two-time WWE Champion in his final match.
From fellow former world champions to longtime rivals, Styles has a plethora of options at his fingertips for an ideal opponent in his retirement bout.
Here are ten potential AJ Styles WWE retirement opponents.
10. Cody Rhodes

In 2024, Cody Rhodes and AJ Styles feuded over the Undisputed WWE Championship with two title bouts, including an instant classic in France at Backlash.
At WWE SummerSlam 2025 Night Two, Rhodes defeated John Cena to become a two-time Undisputed WWE Champion.
Wanting to leave a similar impression as his first run with the top prize in WWE, “The American Nightmare” could once again go one-on-one with Styles during this reign.
Styles getting a shot at the Undisputed WWE Championship in his final match should make for a compelling main event showdown and give him all of the spotlight before he officially retires.
