An Epic Rivalry Renewed at Today’s G1 Climax Event – August 2 RESULTS

Hangman Page vs. Togi Makabe

Hangman Page pinned Togi Makabe in a fun back-and-forth contest.

Page tried to play the power game with Makabe, but was quickly knocked out of the ring. Makabe threw Page into the barricades a couple of times and posed to the crowd. While he did, Hangman ran the ropes and hit a Tope Suicida to Makabe to regain advantage.

Back in the ring, Page kept getting the heat, using his speed and uncanny strength to his advantage. Kelly and Romero continued to gush about Hangman’s physical gifts. Romero claimed he was looking at a “future champion.”

Makabe hit a scoop slam and ran Page into the corner for a 10-punch spot. Page regained advantage and was able to forearm Makabe to his knees. This pattern continued of Page gaining an advantage, and Makabe supercharging back up.

Page managed to avoid Makabe’s King Kong knee drop, and both men struggled back to their feet. Both guys have been fan favorites this entire tournament, but this crowd was behind Makabe, booing Hangman’s offense and chanting for Makabe.

Makabe threw Page in a German suplex, but Page managed to his feet and superkicked Makabe. Page ran the ropes, but on his way back met a huge lariat. Thrown onto the apron, Makabe attempted a maneuver, but Page hit the Buckshot lariat and Right of Passage for his first pinfall win of the tournament.

Makabe and Page are both at four points.
