Building The Perfect WWE Roster (Men)

Building The Perfect WWE Roster (Men)

A staggering statistic came out recently revealing that WWE currently has over 200 active wrestlers under contract with the promotion.

Despite having eight hours of television time to fill each week with Raw, SmackDown, 205 Live, NXT and NXT UK (we are not including Main Event), there are still dozens of members of the roster many feel are seriously underutilised.

The ridiculous Wild Card rule that followed the Superstar Shakeup has only made things worse, with far less screen time available now that some talent is shared.

The make-up of the brands is one of the other issues. There is talent on Raw that might be better on 205 Live, NXT stars who would clearly help the main roster and in turn main roster talent that had far more success as characters in NXT.

We are going to attempt to break down the crew and create a perfect WWE roster, with each brand unique (without Wild Cards) and with everyone placed where they will be best utilised. We will also provide a list of talent that WWE would be better off letting go (not that they will) and allowing them to rejuvenate their careers elsewhere.

We will list each member of the roster and give a brief explanation as to the reasoning for their placement.

We should also note that we are basing this on Raw becoming the more “sports entertainment” show centred around strong characters, SmackDown becoming more about sporting elements, 205 Live being taken seriously and treated as a big deal, and NXT and NXT UK pretty much being what they are now.

Note that this list only deals with the male members of the WWE roster. Look out for a similar list featuring the women’s roster shortly.
