With the road to WWE WrestleMania 42 already poised to be paved with twists and turns, there may be a suprising opponent set for Cody Rhodes.

From old foes coming back around again to a familiar face hisfrom  days in AEW that might be back to haunt him, there could be some big stories coming soon for the now-former Undisputed WWE Champion.

Here seven potential opponents for Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 42.

7. Drew McIntyre

While their feud has been heating up over the past few months, it doesn’t seem over just because McIntyre bested Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship.

With a potential showdown ahead for the title, perhaps their rematch won’t come until WrestleMania 42.

Depending on what happens in the Royal Rumble, it could be that if McIntyre continues to hold on to the WWE Championship until Las Vegas, he could be forced to face Rhodes.

Cody Rhodes could certainly make history by joining Stone Cold Steve Austin as the only other man in WWE history who has won the Royal Rumble three times.
