When Cody Rhodes finished his story by defeating Roman Reigns to win the Undisputed WWE Championship at WrestleMania 40, he also officially became the top babyface of the company.
Since then, The American Nightmare has been cemented as one of the biggest stars in the industry and has been a consistently reliable talent who has proven to be a workhorse.
When John Cena dethroned Rhodes for the WWE Title at WrestleMania 41, it was the first sign that the company could be looking for someone to replace him as the company’s top star.
Looking at the entire WWE roster and who could possibly fill the role of top star, here are eight potential WWE replacements for Cody Rhodes.
8. CM Punk
While the likes of John Cena and Roman Reigns have held the position of top star for WWE and now moved on to more a part-time role, CM Punk has remained as a consistent talent on the company’s weekly programming.
At 46 years old, Punk might not be the option to fill this spot full-time, but he could be a short-term solution to lead to a more long term choice.
Since returning to WWE at Survivor Series 2023, The Second City Saint feels more popular than he has ever been.
Punk wants the top spot and has never been shy about it, making him someone who could fit very well in this role if Cody Rhodes needs some time away.
