Every WrestleMania Main Event Ranked By Star Rating

Sycho Sid vs. The Undertaker – WrestleMania 13 – 1.25 Stars

There was a five star match on this show, that being Steve Austin vs Bret Hart, but it wasn’t the main event.

The Undertaker faced Sid in what would become his sixth of 21 consecutive wins at the event. The match was pretty forgettable and Undertaker only won after a distraction from Bret Hart.

The Miz vs. John Cena – WrestleMania XXVII – 1.25 Stars

The Miz entered WrestleMania XXVII as WWE Champion, and successfully defended the title that night, but you probably don’t remember that because he was effectively overshadowed the whole time by the roles that both John Cena and The Rock played.

Honestly, due to the concussion that he suffered, Miz probably doesn’t remember it too well either.

This match was used as the tipping point to set up for the following year’s “Once in a Lifetime” main event of Cena vs. Rock.

Randy Savage vs. Ted DiBiase – WrestleMania IV – 2.25 Stars

This match was the finals of a WWF Championship tournament that was held on the show

Meant to be a crowning moment for Savage, it had a little steam taken away from it due to the lack of a clean finish. Savage had his moment, but only after interference from Hulk Hogan.

Savage did get to win in the main event of WrestleMania though and held the title for over a year after the win.

Yokozuna vs. Bret Hart – WrestleMania X – 2.25 Stars

This was not the best match that Bret Hart had at WrestleMania X, as he opened the show with his iconic match against his brother Owen.

The ‘Hitman’ did however capture the WWF Championship in the main event of the show because his adversary Yokozuna slipped off of the middle rope while attempting a Banzai Drop.

It was the crowning moment that had been ripped away from Bret the year prior.

Sgt. Slaughter vs. Hulk Hogan – WrestleMania VII – 2.50 Stars

After Sgt. Slaughter returned to WWF and turned heel becoming an Iraqi sympathizer during the time the United States was involved in Operation Desert Storm, there was but one balding, wispy blonde-haired, real American to fight that threat at WrestleMania, and it was Hulk Hogan.

There were outside circumstances that took heat away from the feud. First, the war that was being exploited for the sake of the rivalry ended over a month before WrestleMania.

Second, due to fears that nobody would show up to see the match, a change in venues was made last minute.

Add that to the fact that Slaughter and Hogan are both relatively limited in the ring and it had all the ingredients for a stinker.
