WWE
Looking at the current free agency market, there are various former NXT stars that could come back into the fold in WWE.
Over the past few months, there has been quite a few reports and rumors in regards to former WWE NXT stars and champions making their return to the promotion.
From those who come from the first era of NXT to recent WWE releases, the company could see some talent making their way back in the near future.
Here are seven former NXT stars to potentially re-sign with WWE.
7. Enzo Amore
In recent months, there have been several reports and rumors in regards to Enzo Amore potentially making his return to WWE.
Ahead of the May 19 edition of WWE NXT, Amore was reportedly spotted backstage at the Performance Center.
Despite it being eight years since he left the company, it feels like all signs are pointing to Enzo making his return to WWE in the near future.
Whether it be a reunion of his famous tag team or on his own, Enzo could be on his way back to WWE sooner rather than later.
6. Big Cass (Big Bill)
Speaking of Enzo Amore, it feels like he will be joined by his former tag team partner and best friend Big Bill in WWE again.
Over the past four years, Bill has been part of the AEW roster and has made his presence felt.
Bill is a former AEW World Tag Team Champion and has played significant roles alongside top stars, such as Chris Jericho and MJF in the past.
Now with his AEW contract set to expire, fans could see Bill become Big Cass once again and reunite with Enzo Amore in WWE for one more run.
5. Lana (CJ Perry)
In April 2025, Rusev made his return to WWE and has become part of the Monday Night Raw roster.
“The Bulgarian Brute” has established himself as a consistent presence on WWE TV and could open the door for his wife to make her return as well.
When Rusev re-signed with WWE, there were reports that his wife CJ Perry had also signed a Legends deal with the company.
Despite not making any appearances since these reports, Perry could become Lana once again alongside her husband, playing a pivotal role in trying to elevate him up the card.
4. Shayna Baszler
Since her release from WWE in May 2025, fans have seen Shayna Baszler back in the company on a few occasions.
“The Queen of Spades” has appeared in pretaped and backstage segments with a few NXT stars, such as Kelani Jordan.
While she has been seen on WWE TV, the former two-time NXT Women’s Champion has also competed in the ring for different independent promotions over the past year.
Baszler making her return could see her giving a veteran presence on NXT or adding her experience to the WWE main roster women’s scene.
3. Dakota Kai (Charlie)
Another notable and very surprising WWE release from May 2025 was Dakota Kai.
In the year since her release, Kai, now known as Charlie, has truly made an impact in different promotions, such as EVE and House of Glory.
Charlie has proven to not have ring rust and can deliver inside the squared circle in noteworthy matches against Kris Statlander and Shotzi Blackheart.
Charlie becoming Dakota Kai again would be fitting and give WWE one of the most underrated female stars back into the fold to help the women’s division regain momentum.
2. Baron Corbin (Bishop Dyer)
In November 2024, many fans were shocked to hear Baron Corbin was leaving the company after a 12-year run.
To the surprise of fans yet again, Corbin has been able to successfully reinvent himself as Bishop Dyer.
Becoming a presence in companies like Maple Leaf Pro and Major League Wrestling, Dyer has shown the consistency that made him one of the most reliable performers on the WWE roster for years.
Following reports of his potential re-signing, it might be the right time for Corbin to make his return where he could give the company a dependable heel on the roster moving forward.
1. FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler)
In 2020, FTR left WWE and made their way to All Elite Wrestling where they have become one of the best tag teams in the company’s history.
Over the course of the past six years, Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler have put on a litany of legendary matches with the likes of The Young Bucks, The Briscoe Brothers, Bang Bang Gang, Brodido and Adam Copeland and Christian Cage.
With three reigns as the AEW World Tag Team Champions under their belt, there isn’t a lot that FTR have not accomplished in Tony Khan’s promotion.
Having done pretty much everything they can and their contracts set to expire next year, it feels like a perfect time for FTR to try to revive and revitalize the WWE tag team division with a return of The Revival.
