While it didn’t begin its life as a WWE title, the United States Championship has a lineage filled with legends and accomplished names.
Looking around the wrestling world, pretty much every promotion around has someone who has held the WWE United States Championship.
With several former champions on the free agency market or potentially set to see their contract expire, there could be any number of stars who make their way back to WWE down the line.
Here are eight former United States Champions to potentially re-sign with WWE.
8. Matt Cardona
Ever since being released from WWE in 2020, Matt Cardona has transformed before the fans’ eyes and reinvented himself into one of the most prominent names on the independent scene.
Once known as Zack Ryder, Cardona has proven himself to be a top draw across multiple different promotions and appeared all over the world.
“The Indy God” has made it perfectly clear that he is more than open to making a return to WWE when the time is right.
With the former WWE United States Champion officially a free agent, fans could see Cardona make his return to the company he once called home sooner rather than later.
