Yoshi-Hashi vs. Hangman Page

Yoshi-Hashi pinned Hangman Page in what turned out to be a very fun final match for the two. Both men had a tournament where they had great matches, but couldn’t get meaningful victories. Of course, with Page, he’s a young-up-and-comer, so commentary was much more forgiving and optimistic, whereas with Yoshi, they practically buried him on every show.

Regardless, both men fought like they had something to prove. Everytime Page tried to hit Rite of Passage to end the match, Yoshi had a counter, at one point breaking out a Canadian Destroyer to the shock of everyone. It makes you wanna see Yoshi-Hashi go on excursion to Impact and feud with Petey Williams. Screw the Young Bucks and Jericho to Impact speculation, I wanna see the battle of Canadian Destroyers.

Anyway, Page tried for Rites of Passage one more time, but YH was able to reverse it into Karma for the victory.

Both men end their tournament with six points. Obviously, Page is going to be a G1 regular given his youth and talent. There’s been a lot of talk about Yoshi-Hashi being on the chopping block, but frankly, he’s worked too hard and had too many good matches this G1 to deserve that. With how nothing Makabe’s been and how awful the Tongans are, there’re way better options if you wanna cull the herd for next year’s blocks.
