After several different appearances across 2024 and 2025, Joe Hendry officially signed with WWE last year and has become a huge part of the NXT brand.
This led to Hendry winning the NXT Championship in February, but he then lost the title to Tony D’Angelo in a four-way match at the WWE NXT Stand & Deliver 2026.
After dropping the gold at the latest PLE, it might be time for Hendry to head up to the WWE main roster moving forward.
Here are seven potential Joe Hendry WWE main roster call-up plans.
7. Rematch with Randy Orton at WrestleMania
At WWE WrestleMania 41, Randy Orton had an open challenge that was accepted by Joe Hendry as the TNA World Champion.
This bout was very short lived with Orton picking up the victory in just over three minutes.
Wanting to get revenge on Orton for that loss on “The Grandest Stage of Them All,” Hendry could get a rematch against “The Legend Killer.”
A rematch with Orton at Mania would be intriguing to see how much Hendry has grown since signing with WWE and this new side of “The Viper” as well.
6. Tag team with R-Truth

R-Truth & Joe Hendry took part in a segment together at John Cena’s Final Match Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13
Back in December 2025, Joe Hendry made a rare appearance on the WWE main roster to face The Miz in a Miracle On 34th Street Fight.
During this match, R-Truth appeared in a Santa suit to help Hendry pick up the victory over “The A Lister.”
Considering they are two of WWE’s most popular comedy acts, it would make sense for Hendry to form a duo with Truth.
While he is currently paired up with Damian Priest as the WWE Tag Team Champions on Friday Night SmackDown, Truth could see something in Hendry and want to form a tag team with him as well.
5. Bringing back his original parody songs
One element of Joe Hendry’s character that was extremely identifiable with who he was for years is his parody songs on his rivals.
However, Hendry’s run on WWE NXT has seen him become a more serious competitor who has established himself as a top star on the brand.
Whenever he makes his way to the WWE main roster, the company would be wise to have Hendry bring back the parody songs again.
Hendry mixing it up with the main roster heels could see him start doing original parodies to get under the skins of his opponents and rivals in the near future.
4. Used in backstage segments whenever someone says his name

Wren Sinclair was one of many WWE NXT stars to say his name over the past year
WWE could handle Joe Hendry as an act that doesn’t always have to be seen competing inside the squared circle.
To introduce him to the main roster audience, Hendry could start to appear in backstage segments with talent.
Using the “Say His Name and He Appears” act that was popular in TNA Wrestling, Hendry could become a regular fixture in the backstage area for Monday Night Raw and Friday Night SmackDown.
Hendry bringing some motivation to babyfaces or drawing the ire of the heels on the main roster might be the right way to bring the former NXT Champion to the bigger stage in WWE.
3. Comedy skits with Danhausen

After a largely disliked debut at Elimination Chamber, Danhausen has quickly become a WWE fan favorite
Someone who has been extremely popular since signing with WWE earlier this year is Danhausen.
At WWE Elimination Chamber 2026, Danhausen was revealed as the individual who was inside the mystery crate.
Since then, Danhausen has been regularly featured in comedy skits backstage and during ad breaks for the live fans.
There could be a way for WWE to introduce Joe Hendry to the main roster by placing him alongside Danhausen in these skits to show off his personality.
2. Answering the United States Championship Open Challenge

Sami Zayn faced a lot of backlash after his United States Championship victory over Carmelo Hayes on March 27
Since the summer of 2025, WWE has brought back the United States Championship Open Challenge, which was originated by John Cena.
From Ilja Dragunov to Carmelo Hayes, the open challenge has produced some of the best TV matches on Friday Night SmackDown as of late.
This concept has also been used to give several different stars the spotlight of the main roster, such as TNA’s Leon Slater, AAA’s El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. and Je’Von Evans.
Now that Sami Zayn is once again US Champion, he could open the door for someone like Joe Hendry to make his official debut on the WWE main roster by answering the open challenge.
1. Rekindling his rivalry with Drew McIntyre
During his days on the independent scene, Joe Hendry has feuded with a number of different stars who are currently on the WWE roster.
Chief among those talents, Drew McIntyre is someone who played an instrumental role in Hendry’s rise up the ranks.
Whenever Hendry makes his way to the WWE main roster, it could see him crossing paths with McIntyre once again.
Hendry rekindling his rivalry with McIntyre could deliver some entertaining moments that was seen from these two in the past with both men wanting to bring pride to their home country of Scotland.
